David Hawthorne was ushered into his heavenly home on Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was born June 16, 1937, in Rankin County, where he lived his entire life.
David worked as an accountant in the truck-trailer industry until his retirement and garnered many coworkers who became great life-time friends. David was a charter member of the Exchange Club of Richland. David served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Richland for over 50 years. While living in Richland for over 60 years, he served in various capacities in his church, the local school, and the City of Richland.
His very favorite pastime was playing golf, and he rarely missed watching a MSU game, either in person or on TV. Also, he enjoyed cutting grass on his John Deere lawn mower, which was almost every day.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Erma Lee Hawthorne; his father, David Hawthorne, Sr; his brother, Layne Hawthorne, and his mother-in-law, Zenith Lewis. David is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Elizabeth, and a daughter, Angela Hawthorne; two sisters, Mazelle Davis (Skip) of Morton, Mississippi, and Erma Jean Passons (Paul) of Flowood, Mississippi; and many loving Hawthorne, Sparkman, and Smith cousins.
