David Matthews

Mr. David Neil Matthews, 46, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Ms Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be Monday, April 26, 2010 from 10 - 11 a.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence prior to graveside services at 11:30 a.m. in Faith Baptist Church Cemetery in Florence.\ \ Mr. Matthews was a truck driver, a coin collector and enjoyed doing woodwork. Above all other activities he enjoyed helping others. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Gulfport and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Pearl.\ \ He is preceded in death by his brother, James Matthew and parents, James and Hazel Matthews.\ \ He leaves behind his son, Nathaniel Thompson of Pearl, step-son, Donnie Roe of Texas; daughter, Kimberly Thompson of Pearl and step-daughters: Chelsie Roe of Byram and Ashley Brumley of New York; brother, Brian Keith Matthews; sister, Karen Ellis; nephews: Jason King and Dustin Ellis; grandchild, Preston; and former wife and mother of his children, Joyce Thompson.\
