David Wooten

David Ralph Wooten, 58, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be 5-9pm Friday, May 15, 2009 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and 9am until the 11am funeral service Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Parkway Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. \ \ Mr. Wooten was born and raised in Jackson, MS. His parents were the late Ralph Wooten and Carolyn Rose Traxler Wooten. He was employed by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Division of Administration and Finance, for 30 years. David was a devoted member of Parkway Baptist Church and served as Activities Director, where he enjoyed planning for various activities involving his beloved cooking and sports teams. \ \ He is survived by a family who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly: his wife of 36 years, Patty Wooten of Jackson; daughter, Trisha Lynn Sullivan and husband, Patrick, of Southhaven, and their children Wyatt and Brooke, and Chris Wooten and wife, Jenny, of Brandon, and their child Brady, and Ryan Wooten of Pearl; sister Carolyn Wooten of Jackson; and nieces and nephews.\ \ The family is deeply appreciative to the staff of the Baptist Medical Center and Dr. Grace Shumaker for their compassionate care. His family and friends will miss his gentle Christian spirit, but will remember his loving-kindness shown in everyday life. \ \ Memorials may be made to the Blair E.
