David Allerson "Jack" Nichols died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at CMMC surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be 1pm until the 3pm funeral service Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Graveside services will be 2pm Monday in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Calhoun County, MS.\ \ Jack was born May 30, 1925, to Shelba T. and Nannie Westbrook Nichols in Clay County, MS. During World War II, he served in the South Pacific as a member of the 726th Amtrac Battalion. March 3, 1951, he married Rose Marie Moore. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage. He served on the Jackson Police Department for 30 years before retiring in 1986. A lifelong avid gardener, friends, family and neighbors often shared the bounty from his garden.\ \ In addition to Marie, he leaves to cherish his memory a son, David A. Nichols II (Carolyn) of Edwards, MS; a daughter, Jackie Chamberlain (Gene) of Decatur, IL, and two grandchildren, Taylor Chamberlain & Aidan Chamberlain; two brothers, Walter Nichols (Pet) of Westpoint, MS, Randolph Nichols (Harriet) of Aberdeen, MS, and two sisters, Mary Pinkerton of Belzoni, MS and Florence Thompson (Henry) of Harrison, AR.\ \ He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James Nichols, William Nichols and Floyd Nichols and one sister Margaret Hardwick.\ \ Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association. \ \ On line guest book at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.\ \
