Mr. Dennie "Louis" Yates

Dennie Louis Yates, Jr., 38, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Merit Health Crossgates in Brandon. Visitation will be Thursday, December 28th from 5-8 pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral Service will be Friday, December 29th at 12:00 pm with visitation one-hour prior at Society Hill Baptist Church in Oak Vale, MS. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Louis has lived in Brandon about a year and a half, moving from South Jackson. He was a graduate of Forest Hill High School and worked several years for Miskelly’s Furniture and the last 10 years with Burnell Blair Construction. He enjoyed volunteering for his daughter’s Girl Scout Troop, including driving for the Christmas Parade. He was a loving father, son, brother, and was a great Uncle. Louis is preceded in death by his sister, Christy Kay Sumrall; and his grandparents, Dewey and Jaunice Dyess and Rev. W.P. and Earline Blair. He is survived by his parents, Burnell Blair of Jackson and Kay Stogner of Brandon; daughters, 8-year-old Cloey and 5-year-old Carley both of Brandon; sisters, Kasey (Aubrey) Finklea of Brandon and Debra Hauptman of Utica; niece and nephew, Micca and Blake; great nephew, Kylan; and numerous aunts, including Martha Neely and uncles, extended family and friends.
