Dewitt Lewis

Carl Dewitt Lewis, Sr., age 88, died at his home on Monday, October 31, 2011. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 2, 2011, from 5-7pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Funeral services will be at 11am Thursday with a one hour visitation prior to the service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram with interment at Springridge United Methodist Church cemetery.\ \ A twenty-five year employee retired from Hinds County, Mr. Lewis raised cattle and garden vegetables which he enjoyed sharing with others.\ \ Mr. Lewis was born on November 17, 1922, in Hinds County, MS. to L.D. Lewis and Mattie Hollingsworth Lewis. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Marjorie B. Lewis and a sister Laura M. Yarbrough. Also surviving Mr. Lewis are his children; Toya Bruss (Bob), Carl Lewis, Jr. (Debbie), Cheri Shack (Charles) and Kevin Lewis (Sandy).
