Diane Chafin Phillips, 62, went home to be with her Lord Monday, October 19, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services are 11am Friday, October 23, 2015 at Oak Forest Baptist Church, with a one hour visitation prior to service time at the church. Interment 2:30pm Friday at Farm Haven Baptist Church Cemetery in Canton, MS. Diane grew up in Leake County, but was a longtime resident (40 years) of Jackson, where she was a devoted member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Canton Academy and Draughn’s Business College. For over 20 years Diane had worked at Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company. She truly loved children, working in the church nursery and taught Sunday School. Diane absolutely adored her grandchildren—who lovingly called her MiMi. “Diane did her very best to be everything for everybody with an unselfish, humble spirit”. Her husband William summed her up in two words, “gentle determination”. He said she unknowingly inspired many lives with her kind expression of love and her servants heart. Diane is preceded in death by her father, Bob Chafin and sister, Gail Whittington. Survivors include her mother Nellie Chafin of Carthage; loving husband of 42 years, William “Bill” Phillips; daughters Melody Phillips of Jackson and Stephanie Phillips Dungey and her husband Adam of Clinton; sisters Debra Chafin and Chris Lovelace both of Carthage; and the apple of her eye her precious grandchildren Will, Matthew, Addison, Aiden and Joseph. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Oak Forest Baptist Church in Jackson, MS.
