Dolly Gillis

Dolly Evans Gillis, 77, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at Brandon Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be held, Tuesday, May 15, one hour before the 2:00 p.m. memorial service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence.\ \ Dolly was born in Vicksburg. She worked for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and later retired in 1995 from the Veteran's Affairs. After retirement, she enjoyed working with her flowers. \ \ Dolly was preceded in death by siblings, Melvin Evans, Jimmy Evans, Bobby Evans, Jessie Evans and Madge Gillis. \ \ She is survived by her sons, James A. Gillis (Sandrine) of Hickory, MS and John A. Gillis (Melva) of Cutler Bay, FL; daughters, Teri Lee Hatcher (Wayne) of Buies Creek, NC and Vicki Hughes (Tracy) of Florence; brothers, Lee Evans (Martha) of Vicksburg, Sidney Evans (Eva) of Yazoo County, and James Evans (Betsy) of Louisiana; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.\ \ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.\
