Donald Clifton Smith, 61, better known as “Sabu” passed away early Saturday morning September 16, 2017 at his home in Byram after a short battle with cancer. Private family graveside services will be held. Sabu was a life long resident of the Byram/Jackson area. He had recently retired as a cook from the Piccadilly restaurant in Jackson; he was also a vendor of home-make pork skins and peanuts. He enjoyed watching and traveling with the Jackson State Football team, of whom he was an avid fan. Sabu was a loving, kind person. His love and generosity will be remembered for years to come. “If you met Sabu, he was a friend for life” He is survived by his mother Josephine Smith, two children who he considered his own, Larry and Keara James, a brother Robert Smith, 4 sisters, Doris Sawyer, Joyce Strahan, and Gloria Whitley all of the Byram/Jackson area and one sister Ella Brown of Detroit, MI, also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
