Doris Jean Prestwood, 80, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at her home in Ridgeland, MS. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 25 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS. Jean was born to John Paul Goza and Arrie Belle Goza on June 21, 1940 in Jackson, MS. She grew up dancing with her sisters and she carried the connections she made as a dancer into her adulthood. After modeling for D.H. Holmes, she helped found and run two successful businesses, Prestwood Stables and Prestwood Homes, with her husband, Howard “Dude” Prestwood. She also enjoyed helping her daughters, Christi and Leslie, raise their children while they worked. Mrs. Prestwood was a member of Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Howard “Dude” Prestwood; brother, Jimmy Goza; and brother-in-law, Paul Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Christi (Ken) Self of Ridgeland and Leslie Dukes of Hattiesburg; sisters, Phyllis (Steve) Sherer and Cookie Smith, both of Raymond; grandchildren, Conner and Grace Self and Logan and Garrett Dukes; and great-grandchildren, Ally and Brooklyn Self and Bella and Rivers Misita. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church.
