Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Ruth Nicholson

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Ruth Nicholson, 79, finished her earthly journey and entered the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 27, 2019. Visitation will take place at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence on Thursday, May 30th from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Her funeral will be at 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Briar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Dot Nicholson, born in Union, MS, was a long-time resident of Florence, MS. With Mrs. Nicholson life was always about family first. For as long as anyone can remember, she was a loving and excellent caregiver for others. She was a cancer survivor; in fact, she won the Susan B. Komen award for Top Ten Survivor’s Stories. Dot had the gift of hospitality. She loved to decorate her home and yard so she could welcome people into her heart and her home. Shopping was a passion of hers, especially shopping for antiques. She retired as office manager of Dixie Automobile Shop & Equipment where she also served as the company accountant. Upon her passing, Mrs. Nicholson was reunited with her loving husband, Richard “Wally” Nicholson, and her parents, Dale and Dee Jordan. Those who are left to cherish her memories include: her son Richard (Kelli) Wallace Nicholson of Florence, MS; her daughter, Vicki Nicholson McNair of Florence; her grandchildren, Lindsay (George) Vance, Kyle McNair, Bradley (Susana) Nicholson, and Chandler (Betsy) Nicholson; her great grandchildren, Anna Morgan Vance and Henley Jean Nicholson; and one brother, Gerald Dale (Brenda) Jordan of Atlanta, GA.
