Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Jean Wilson, 89, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 13, 2021 at her home in Richland. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery. Mrs. Wilson was born February 3, 1932 in Jackson, MS to the late George and Gettie Flanagan. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Richland where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir, and the church Historian. She also served as the City of Richland Historian. She was a former cub scout leader and leader of 4H. In 1950, she won the title of Miss Pelahatchie and was the 2nd runner up in the Miss Central Mississippi. More than any accomplishment, she loved her family and friends the most. Dot is preceded in death by her parents, George and Gettie Flanagan and by her husband Leroy Wilson, who she married in 1952. She is survived by her sons, Brent (Tena) Wilson of Richland and Don (Lisa) Wilson of Richland; daughter, Tina Wilson of Richland; grandchildren, Matthew (Jade) Wilson and Jessica (Isaac) Manuel; and great grandchildren, Landon Manuel, Rawls Wilson, Rocklyn Manuel, Laken Manuel, and Auden Wilson. The family would like to express their appreciation to Tricia Hudson and the staff at Compassus Hospice for the care shown to Mrs. Dot in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Richland Building Fund.
