Dorothy “Dottie” Sanders Perkins Dismuke, 88, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison. Visitation will be 1:30pm until the 2:30pm memorial service Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Mrs. Dismuke was born in Silver Creek, MS to the late Houston Jefferson Sanders and Sallie Mae Coke Sanders. As a young girl she moved to Pinola, MS, graduating from Pinola High School. She attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College and on to the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Dismuke was employed with a hospital in Memphis, TN as a Lab Technician, later making a change and became an airline Stewardess for Delta Air Lines and another change to Buyer for the Pan Dora Fashion Shop. In 1964 when she and her husband were transfered to Newport Bach, CA, she felt so fortunate to learn of this Japanese man that taught her so much about her flowers and how to care for them. He hobbies included caring for her Poodles and flower gardening. She was married two times. Her first husband was Virgil Franklin “Perk” Perkins from Little Rock, AR. After they were transferred back to Memphis, he soon passed away. fifteen years late she met her second husband James “Jim” Dismuke and they were soon married. After thirteen years together he passed away. Then she moved to St. Catherine’s Village, Madison, MS to be near her family these last seven years. She loved it there and they saw that she had to best of care. Mrs. Dismuke was of the Episcopalian faith, being a member at St. John’s in Memphis, TN. She did not have any children but is survived by her brother J.C. Sanders and his wife Georgia Sanders; niece, Jennifer S. Borromeo and her husband Alex Borromeo and great nephew Colby Borromeo; two nephews of her first husband, David Perkins and Don Perkins of Little Rock AR; two step daughters, Lenoria Maxwell and Melinda Dismuke, Atlanta, GA; one step-son, Smith Dismuke, Richmond, VA.
