Mrs. Dorothy Jane Gray

December 19, 1932 — November 22, 2018

Dorothy (Dot) Myers Gray passed away on Thanksgiving day, November 22, 2018, at the Hilton Head Hospital in Hilton Head Island, SC. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Myers, and her second husband, J.W. Gray. She is survived by two sons, Tommy Myers and wife Sherry, Beaver Myers and wife Amy, and a daughter, Anita Mathis, as well as six grandchildren—Brett Myers, Christie Brown, Lauren Mathis, Brittany Murray, Kristen Audirsch, and Dylan Bradley, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Dot was born in Harrison, Arkansas, but spent most of her life in the Byram and south Jackson areas. She was active in Hillcrest Baptist Church and later in Alta Woods Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being actively involved in a nursing home ministry. She moved to Hilton Head Island, SC, in 2015 where she became involved in First Baptist Church there. Her favorite pastime was listening to gospel music and she was best known for her beautiful smile. She was a very gracious and loving lady who loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know Him. As incredibly sad her passing is to all who loved her, we have the assurance that she is in the presence of Jesus and a host of family and friends who were waiting for her. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Monday, November 26, at First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, followed by the service at 4:00. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood South Cemetery on McCluer Road in Jackson, MS. Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS will assist the family during the committal service.
