Dorothy Jean Odom

Dorothy Jean Dearman Odom passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was 76 years old. The family will hold a memorial service at Apostolic Faith of Byram at a later date.

Dot was born on November 8, 1946, to Oscar William Dearman and Helen Ruth Smith Dearman in Lauderdale County, MS. She was raised in South Jackson but has lived in Florence for the past five years. She was a member of Apostolic Faith of Byram. Mrs. Dot loved sewing, playing with the chickens, planting flowers, and working outside. But most of all, she loved her new great grandbaby, Elizabeth.

Dot is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cecil C. Odom Sr.; son, Richard Dale Odom; granddaughter, Tiffany Turner and one great granddaughter. She is survived by son, Cecil C Odom Jr. (Teresa) of Pearl; grandson, James Odom (Kaydee) of Florence; granddaughter, Heather Odom of Alaska; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, James Dearman (Doris) of Florence, and George Dearman (Dawn) of Meridian; sister, Betty Scruggs of Meridian; 4 nieces and 3 nephews.
