Mrs. Dorothy Jean Roberts

Dorothy Jean Ballard Roberts, 86, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4:00- 6:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and again one hour prior to the funeral service Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Salem Baptist Cemetery of Carthage, MS. Reverend Reid Bishop of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church will be officiating. She was born April 30, 1932 to Annie Mae (Brock) Ballard and John Henry Ballard. Dorothy worked in child care and as a cashier before retiring. She was a faithful member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Richland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lyndell Everette Roberts; her parents, sister, Oneita Watkins; and brother, Charles Ballard of Richland. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Nicholson Leach (Glen); son, Michael Edwin Roberts (Lisa); 9 grandchildren, Scott Nicholson (Sheila), Matthew Nicholson, Clint Nicholson (Donna), Haley Leach, Lauren Roberts, Anna Roberts, Rachel Roberts, Rebekah Roberts, and Jonathan Roberts; and 13 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in her memory.
