Dorothy Ellen Sullivan passed quietly in her sleep after giving one more Christmas to her beloved family. She was 79 years old. The world as it is today, seems so much less bright. Heaven has gained another angel as she passed through the Golden Gates to be with our Lord and Savior. Mama had been battling the last stages of Parkinson’s for some time now and left with a sweet whisper while her family slept during the night. A blessing, born on September 22, 1942 continued to bless, teach, mentor, love, and support so many lives. Always giving, always sharing, a true witness and soldier of Christ and all his Glory. She was never one to miss a party, birthday, or celebration, that’s just mama. Mother is preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Carol; her parents, Helen and Alvy Butler; and her nephew, Michael Butler. She leaves behind a very devoted and loving husband, Bert Sullivan, Sr.; brother, James Alvy Butler; sister, Liz Foster; three devoted and loving sons, Bert, Jr. “Bo”, Pat, and John; six grandchildren, Gage, Skye, Ellen Carol, Taylor, Ava Raye, and Major; one great grandchild, John Patton Veazey; daughters-in-law, Cynthia Sullivan and Kim Sullivan; brother and sisters-in-law, Danny Foster and Dianne Butler; grandson-in-law, Dalton Veazey and hundreds of loved and cherished relatives and friends that have been such a great support and blessing to this Sullivan family. Her final wish was to say goodbye to all and all answered without question. Thank you, Lord, for blessing our lives with our sweet mother. “We will love you forever, love you for always, forever and ever our mother you will be.” A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Richland at 7:00 p.m. with visitation from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church. Chancellor Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Richland.
