Dorothy Smathers Hand

Mrs. Dorothy Smathers Hand, 88, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at her home in Terry. Visitation will be 5-8pm Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be at 10am Friday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Cedar Crest Cemetery.\ \ Mrs. Hand was born January 18, 1920 to Robert Raymond and Lillie May Smathers in Raymond MS. A lifelong resident of Terry, she was member of the Palestine Home Makers Club for over 55 years. Mrs. Hand was a member of Wynndale Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir.\ \ She is preceded in death by her husband George C. Hand, Sr.and her son, Robert Edward (Bobby) Hand. Survivors include her son George C. (Butch) Hand, Jr. of Terry; daughters, Judy Hand Daws of Waynesboro and Lucy Hand Domergue of Hattiesburg; brothers, Robert Smathers of Terry and Guerrant Smathers of Raymond; sisters; Mary S. Sullivan of Terry and Lucy Olson of Ashville, NC; grandchildren, Robert Jeffrey Hand, Michael Wesley Hand and Hartley Domergue; great grandchildren; Carley Hand, Lille Hand and Hannah Hand.\ \ Memorials may be made to Wynndale Presbyterian Church Choir Robe Fund.
