Douglas William Herniman

Mr. Doug Herniman, 80 died on Sunday July 7, 2024 at Bedford Home Care, surrounded by his carrying Nurses and Aids. A Celebration of life visitation will be held on Thursday July 11, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence MS. 

Doug was originally from Canada and moved to Florida in 1960, he was a Comptroller which allowed him to travel and make MS his home. Doug was a loving husband to his late wife Rita Herniman, and a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Doug worked as Parts Manager at Florence Auto Parts in Florence and retired from Carquest Auto Parts. Doug could get people parts when no one could. He loved his work family,where he was known and cherished by many. He was member of Florence Men’s Association. He also enjoyed working with his hands and could build most anything with wood. For many years he had become a regular at Waffle House, drinking coffee with his “Buds”, where he had built relationships and even become loved by the Staff at Waffle House. He always had a large sense of humor.

He is survived his children, Jennifer Easley of Star MS, Richard (Terri) Herniman of Florence MS, Paul Herniman of Tampa FL, Cheryl Herniman of Tulsa OK, Angie (Burban) Hoover of Ward AR, and Jerry Wood of VA; Sister, Dyanne (Larry) Chapman of Tampa FL; Grandchildren, David (Anne) Orr, Ian (Asypn) Hoover, Cory & Alisha Herniman; and 1 Great-Granddaughter, Ella Orr.
