Mrs. Edna Harris Sykes, 79, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 15, 2009 at her home in Florence. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories.\ \ Mrs. Sykes, moving to Florence from southwest Jackson in 1993 was a seamstress for Madison Weavers, then BriMar Associates as well as sold Home Interiors. She was a member of Cobblestone Church of God. \ \ She was preceded in death by her parents, George H. Hankins, Sr., and Betty Lou Hankins; brother, George H. Hankins, Jr.; and sisters: Mae Hughes and Dessie Hankins.\ \ She is survived by her sons: Stanley Sykes, Jr. of Florence, Tommy Sykes of Crystal Springs, Lynn Sykes of Crystal Springs, Steve Sykes of Terry and Rudy Sykes of Madison; daughters: Pat Bridges of Florence, and Brenda Metz also of Florence; brothers: Earl Hankins of Madison and Jimmy Hankins of Crystal Springs; sisters: Flora Newton of Birmingham, Al and Grace Bloodworth of Grenada; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.\ \ Memorials may be made to Cobblestone Church of God Ladies Ministries, PO Box 1182 Madison, MS 39130.
