Edwin Fleming

Edwin "Ed" Fleming, 84, died Friday, January 18, 2012. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Rexford United Methodist Church Cemetery in Simpson County.\ \ Mr. Fleming lived most of his life in Arkansas where he was born and raised. He lived in Brandon for the past seven years. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 29 years in Crossett, Arkansas and was known as the whistling postman. Later he was a deputy for the Ashley County Sheriff's Department in Hamburg, AR. Mr. Fleming was an avid reader and enjoyed people and doing for others. He was a member of Truitt Memorial Baptist Church in Pearl.\ \ Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Bess Fleming. He is survived by his sons, Ricky Fleming of Brandon and Jeff Fleming (Sheila) of Nashville; daughters, Karen Fleming of Brandon and Melissa Myers (Randy) of Star; and grandchildren, Ethan, Win (Edwin), and Alexandra Fleming.\ \ The family guestbook may be signed at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com. \
