Elton Sellers

Elton Sellers,78 , passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009 at UMC in Jackson. Visitation will be 5-8pm Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 11am Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Calvary Presbyterian Cemetery at 2pm in Mize, MS with Rev. Roger Collins officiating. Pallbearers are, David Moss, Carlton Price, Steve West, Buddy Thorn, Jeff Bell, Alan Flowers, Sonny Gallman and Stacy Morgan; honorary pallbearers are, Alvin Greer, Henry Clark, Joe Jackson, Jr. Hemphill and Shelby Thompson.\ \ Mr. Sellers was born December 4, 1930 in Simpson County, MS and lived in the Jackson area for 59 years. He was in the wholesale meat business for 47 ½ years, 31 of those years with Jackson Packing Company. Mr. Sellers was a 32 degree Mason and member of the James A. Myers Lodge #619 for 53 years. A Wahabi Temple Shriner, he received his 50 year pin in June, 2009 and was a member and former president of the Clown Unit. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and member of UMC Heart Support Group and member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Byram.\ \ Survivors include his wife Bobbie Sellers of Byram; step-mother, Marie Sellers of Bolton; son, Al Sellers of Byram; daughter, Zenda Heafner of Byram; brothers, Wayne Sellers (Dorothy) of Newton and Jerry Sellers (Dianne) of Clinton; grandchildren, Morgan Sellers of Columbus, Charlotte Drane of Wesson, Lee Heafner of Longbeach and Ryan Heafner of Vacaville, CA; a number of nieces and nephew and a host of cousins. \ \ Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Shriners Childrens Hospital.\ \ On line guest book at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com. \
