Ernest C. Byers

Ernest “Ernie” C. Byers passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was 76. Ernie was born October 27, 1947 to the late Oris and Lucille Smith Byers in Jackson, MS. 

Ernie is an U.S. Army veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War era. Ernie enjoyed woodworking, crafting tables and chairs for his family to enjoy. He was an outdoorsman, you could find him on his tractor or cooking on the grill for his family. Ernie will be remembered for his storytelling that lightened the mood and made people laugh or for his boiled peanuts that he shared with everyone. He enjoyed volleyball in the pool, but mostly anytime with his family is where he loved to be. He is a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather,  and brother that will be greatly missed.

Ernie is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sonny; and two sisters, Micky and Dot.

Survived by, his wife of 56 years, Linda Byers of Terry, MS; two sons, Michael and wife Dina and Keith and his wife Merrie all of Terry, MS.  He leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Jake, Makayla, and Zach; and 2 great grandchildren, Luna and Lilly; along with brother, Leonard Byers, and 2 sisters, Mae Bray and Mary Sickle.  

A Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Saturday, April 13^th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.
