Evelyn Cooper, 96, a loving mother and grandmother, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 13, 2020 at her home in Pelahatchie. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Lakewood Memorial Park South in Jackson, MS where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, James Cooper. Due to the circumstances regarding COVID-19, attendees must follow social distancing guidelines. Mrs. Cooper was born in Arkansas to Orlie and Melissa Fay on June 27, 1924. A former resident of Jackson, Evelyn moved to Pelahatchie to live with her daughter in 2000. She was a member of the Pelahatchie Baptist Church. Mrs. Cooper was the proud matriarch to five generations. She loved growing flowers and sewing, especially quilts, which her family were always happy to receive. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Ed) Starnes of Pelahatchie; grandchildren, Melanie (Bubba) Starnes, Pam (Herman) Sebren, and Cindy (George, deceased) Floyd; great-grandchildren, Wes and Justin Starnes and Marc and Kenneth Lee; and several great-great grandchildren.
