Evelyn Tucker Griffith, 81, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held 5-9 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. The Rosary Service will held at 7 p.m. Monday. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Father Lenin Vargas officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park South.\ \ Mrs. Griffith was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Jackson. She was known for being a very classy lady who loved everyone. She had the gift of compassion and demonstrated it through her volunteer work at the V.A. Medical Center for many years.\ \ Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by her parents Rankin James Evans and Floy Ophelia James Evans; husbands, Mac Douglas, Al Tucker, and Gene Griffith; and granddaughter, Amanda Grace Causey.\ \ She is survived by her sons, Don Douglas (Vivian) of Brandon, Mike Douglas of Jackson and Alex Tucker (Sandra) of Brandon; daughter, Theresa Causey (Robert) of Raymond; brother, James Paul Evans (Aileen) of Sontag; sister, Sylvith Fortenberry of Silver Creek; grandchildren, Deena Crews, Jennifer Coney (Charles), Chad Douglas, Michelle Douglas, Robyn Haralson (Nathan), Abbie Murphy (Phillip), Jessica McInnis (Bryan), and Alecia Tucker; and seven great grandchildren.\ \ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Volunteer Services at the V.A.
