Fred Benton, Jr.

Mr. Fred Benton, Jr. of Richland, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 83 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, July 29^th from 12:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence.  

Fred was born May 2, 1939, in Mendenhall, MS to the late Freddie Benton, Sr. and Annie Bell Sanders Benton. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Jackson. He worked for Jackson Ready Mix before retiring and worked many years following retirement for the City of Richland as a park attendant.  He was a member of the “breakfast club” at Burger King in Richland. Fred loved joking with his grandkids and visiting with family. He also enjoyed watching old Westerns.  

Along with his parents, Mr. Benton is also preceded in death by his siblings, Willie Benton, Tommie Evans and Frances Mason; he is survived by his daughters, Pamela Ballenger (Danny) of Richland; Donna Breazeale (Robbie) of Florence; and Kathy Wolf (Brian) of Braxton; grandchildren, Brandy Jones, Brandon Ballenger, Morgan Smith (Nathanael) Stephen Fairchild, Kaleigh Fairchild, Molly Pearson; great grandchildren, Katy Jones, Lauryn Jones and Amery Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
