Gavin Pitts

Mr. Gavin Pitts, 81, World War II Navy Veteran, Retiree from UMC Physical Plant and beloved raconteur, born in Perry County on January 4, 1926, passed from this world to heaven on December 9, 2007 while a resident at the Windham House Nursing Home in Hattiesburg and is now face to face with his Lord.\ \ Visitation is Tuesday, December 11 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence with services at the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Garden of Memories.\ \ Mr. Pitts is predeceased by his wife Clara Mae Pitts, his daughter, Susan Pitts and eight of his nine sisters. \ \ He is survived by his three children: Mary E. Wollgast and husband Ralph of Houston TX; Phillip Gavin Pitts and wife Gwendolyn of Crestview Fl; and Ronald J. Pitts and wife, Karen R. of Hattiesburg; his sister, Geneva Quick of Brandon; five grandchildren: Angela Pitts, Jeff Pitts, Ryan Wollgast, Chris Pitts and Gavin Pitts II.\
