Gene Maxwell Hooks

Gene Maxwell Hooks passed from this life into his Heavenly home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in Florence, MS surrounded by his family. He was 78 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. Interment will follow at Briar Hill Cemetery.

Gene was born on September 9, 1945, to Harvey Hooks and Beatrice Chandler in Jackson, MS. He resided in Florence, MS for most of his life, where he was a member of Briar Hill Baptist Church. Gene was a career commercial insulator. He worked with North Brothers Insulation prior to starting his own business in 1996 where he owned and operated Metro MS Insulation. Gene loved his family more than anything, especially his grandchildren. He loved hunting and riding his motorcycle with The Jackson Harley Group. He was also a member of the Masons. Gene loved his dog J.R. and shopping at Walmart and Sam’s.
