George Cherry

George Wesley "Dub" Cherry, 87, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday May 24, 2009, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation is Monday, May 26, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and 9-10am Wednesday May 27, 2009 prior to the10am service at the funeral home chapel. Interment followed at Lakewood South.\ \ Mr. Cherry was born in Beach, Ms a son of the late George Henry and Lou Robinson Cherry. Mr. Cherry was a US Navy Veteran, serving during WWII. He retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company after 38yrs as a switchman. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his love for his family. He enjoyed fishing.\ \ He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, G.C. Cherry, and his wife Margaret Lyle Cherry. \ \ Survivors include sons; Bobby (JoAnn) Cherry and David (Jacqui) Cherry all of Florence; sisters: Florence Massey of Huntsville, AL and Evelyn Smith of Houston TX.; three grandsons: Bryan Cherry, Joshua (D'Nae) Cherry and Josiah Cherry. \ \ In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.
