George John Michael Jr.

George John Michael, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior in his new Heavenly home on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in Jackson, MS. He was 86 years old.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, and 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.

George was born on May 23, 1937, to George and Anna Ferrence Michael in Glen Cove, New York. George loved the Lord. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Jackson where he loved serving as an usher. He truly had a servant’s heart. He enjoyed being a part of the Bible study at Rankin County Senior Center. He also served for the United States Air Force. George was a very quiet, gentle man who loved electronics and science. He spent 30 years as an instrumentation technician with most of his career at Stone and Webster Nuclear Power. After retirement, he enjoyed working as a night security guard at Methodist Rehab Center in Jackson.

George is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Michael; wife, Virginia Michael; and son-in-law, Tommy Dale Brooks. He is survived by his son, John David Michael of Liberty, MS; daughter, Margaret Ann Brooks of Burleson, TX; step daughters, Lenda Travis of Jackson, MS and Terri Burnham (Tom) of Biloxi, MS; close friend, Pat Douglas of Florence, MS; siblings, Stephen Michael of York, PA, Louise Scholl of NC, and Marion Lepley of MD; grandchildren, Brooke Roberts (Adam) of Natchez, MS, Whitney Hux (Hunter) of Natchez, MS;  Jonathon Travis (Shanna) of Fort Worth, Tx and Donya Stringfellow (Jonathan) of Aledo, TX; and 4 great grandchildren.
