Mr. George Larry Vinson

George Larry Vinson, a loving husband, father, and grand-father, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2020 at his home in Terry. He was 78. Visitation will be Sunday, February 23 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram from 5:00—7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial South at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 24. A long-time resident of Terry, Mr. Vinson was born to H.B. Vinson and Mattie Childress Vinson on November 18, 1941. He was a retired veteran of the Airforce and was also employed with the state at the Mississippi Department of Health. He attended the First Baptist Church of Byram. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and trading cars. He enjoyed travelling the world while serving in the military. His favorite places were Alaska and Guam. Mr. Vinson is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Marlene Gower Vinson; son, Brandon Vinson of Terry; daughter, Peyton (Gene) Guffey of Watson, Louisiana; sisters, Sandra Shedd of Heidleberg and Jane Brackhahn of Navarre, Florida; four grand-children, Tommy, Landon, Alaina, and Sarah Caroline; extended family; a host of friends; and his beloved dogs, Pepper and Earl.
