Mr. Gerald Eugene Humphries

Gerald Eugene Humphries, 68, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood. Visitation will be Sunday, October 29th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Monday, October 30th from 2:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. funeral service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Mr. Humphries has lived in Florence for over 20 years and attended Cleary Baptist Church. He retired from the Disabled American Veterans with 33 years of service. He continued to advocate for Veterans through the national organization as a volunteer until his death. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to travel. He was a loving father and husband dedicating his life to his family. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Eberly Benjamin and Sudava Humphries; brother, Kenneth Humphries; and by his sister, Carolyn Gass. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Humphries of Florence; daughters, Rachel Taylor (Johnny) of Florence and Priscilla Nordan (Robert) of Clinton; brother, Edward Humphries (Shelia) of Hunstville, Al and his sister, Sharlene Mayo of Boaz, AL.
