Gilda Summerlin, aged 92, died quietly in her home on Wednesday, March 29,2023. She was born Gilda Santoianni in Forenza Italy June 25, 1930. She met her husband of 56 years during the post war occupation of Italy and married him in three different ceremonies owing to the need for religious and governmental requirements. She had her first child Kathy in Trieste, Italy prior to moving to the United States where she followed with four other children. She spent the next 26 to 30 years as a home maker and mother of five children. She became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in 1977 and spent the next 46 years faithfully preaching the good news of the kingdom to everyone she met. Some of her last words were a concern for missing the Memorial of Jesus Christ death this year.
Gilda was proceeded in death by her husband J.C. Summerlin and her daughter and son in law Maria and Wes Garrard. She is survived by her eldest Daughter, Kathy Manning (Dick); Sons, William Summerlin (Diane); Joe Summerlin (Lynn). Mario Summerlin (Victoria). Grand Children include Bryan (Cindy) Summerlin, Andrea Summerlin (Chadd) Weer, Heather Summerlin (Chris) Etheridge, Sean (Jayce) Summerlin, Kevin (Erin) Summerlin, Kasey Catalanotto, Great Grandchildren include Alex, Bailey and Andrew Horton, Ryan and Aiden Etheridge; Ada Summerlin Crystal (Willem) de Greef. Great Great Grand Children: Rowan, Juni and Reya de Greef. Furry Grands include Sadie, Arlo and Luna. The Summerlin family wishes to acknowledge and thank all the kind care givers who attended our mother and especially Lena Ice.
