Glenda Jean Weber, age 83, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Edgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation, Byram, MS. Funeral service and interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS.
Glenda was born February 28, 1940, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of Dorothy Jean Nobles Bailey and James Wallin Bailey. After graduating Pine Bluff High School, she became an airline stewardess for Trans-Texas Airways in Dallas, TX. Later she worked for First National Bank and Trustmark Bank in their “First Friend” marketing department, greeting new families that moved to the Jackson area. Glenda was active in local chapters of Civitan and American Business Women’s Association. She loved her job, her co-workers and friends she made serving in these roles.
Glenda had the heart of a true servant, volunteering for years at the Methodist Rehabilitation Gift Shop. She was a longtime member of Alta Woods Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, and later joined Parkway Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed serving her church and community.
Glenda is survived by her son, Andy Speegle (Leigh Ann) of Florence, MS; two daughters: Rachelle Benton of Florence, MS and Leslie Carpenter (Greg) of Brandon, MS; two brothers: James Bailey, Jr. (Kay) of Dallas, TX and William Bailey (Sue) of Castle Rock, CO; seven grandchildren: Andrea Adcock (Justin), Daniel Benton (Tiffany), Megan Averitt (Justin), Kristin Schwartz (Grant), Johnathan Carpenter, Andrew Speegle, and Amber Speegle; three great-grandchildren: Neely Benton, Annelise Averitt and Gabriel Averitt; numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceding Glenda in death were her parents; Lynn Weber, her husband of 41 years; and her son-in-law Danny Benton.
