Grady Eugene Mahaffey, Sr.

Grady Eugene Mahaffey, 81, passed away in the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 16th, 2025, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.  

Grady was born on April 14, 1943, to Dewey & Ollie Mae Mahaffey in their home in Braxton, MS. He then moved to Brandon, MS where he spent much of his younger years. He met his future wife in 1964 and they married shortly after. He resided in Florence, MS on Modena Lane where he and his wife raised their two children, Eugene, and Dena. He loved to spend time visiting with his children, granddaughters, and great granddaughters.  

Grady was an avid outdoorsman who found love in coon hunting, fishing, and spending most of the time in the woods with his family and friends, especially going squirrel hunting with his brother, Raymond. He was such a great aim that it was very rare for him to ever miss a shot. 

He became employed at Borden’s milk company in Jackson, MS in 1964 until he retired in 1995. Grady took time off to enjoy doing hobbies he loved, which included hunting, fishing, and doing projects around the house. He came out of retirement and started working as security for BCBS in 1997 in Flowood, MS. He really enjoyed working with this company and thought of his coworkers as part of his family. Grady retired in 2021 due to the covid pandemic, after over 22 years of hard work and dedication. He then put his time into taking care of his wife of 59 years who later passed away due to her long battle with dementia.  

Grady took pride in his family and loved them all very much. He wanted everyone to be filled with love and happiness. To know Grady was to love him.  

He is proceeded in death by his wife Faye; mother, Ollie Mae; father, Dewey; brothers, Ray Mahaffey, and Edward Mahaffey; sister, Lillie Mae Gibson. Grady is survived by his son Eugene Mahaffey (Beth); daughter, Dena Buckley (Buddy); brother, Raymond Mahaffey; sisters, Patsy Roberts, and Eula Maude Clack; granddaughters Brandy Fyke (Chandler), and Chesnee Mahaffey (Taylor McGowan); great granddaughters, Parklynn and Mayleigh; and other loving family members.
