Gwen Williams went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2016. At 95 she was the youngest among her siblings and the last remaining of the six children of Judge Willard and Alma McDaniel McElwee. She was born on Possum Trot Plantation, Tchula, MS in 1920. The family moved to Greenville, MS in November 1926 just in time for the “’27 Overflow” as the Great Mississippi River Flood was referred to by those who endured it. In 1943 she married Edgar Leslie “Scottie” Williams, a cadet stationed at the Greenville Air Force Base. They were married for 60 years before his death in 2004. She was also predeceased by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter Leslie Williams Booher and her husband David of Elizabethton, TN and her son Judson Williams and his wife Cherie of Clinton, MS. She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Jackson, MS. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the Visiting Courtyard of the Church at 10 o’clock followed by funeral services at 11 o’clock.
