Halla Josephine Francis Ellis, 90, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at MS Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be 9am until the 11am funeral service Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Springridge United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ellis was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi to the late Samuel Edward Francis and Ella Lewis Francis. She was very active in the Jackson Council of Garden Clubs and on Garden Clubs of Mississippi Board of Directors serving as Butterfly Chairman and Wild Flower Chairman. She was awarded the Silver Trophy by Garden Clubs of MS for all her work especially with wild flowers and served as Emeritus Flower Show Judge. Mrs. Ellis traveled all over the state giving Garden Club Programs and was a member of the Antique Rose Society, Perennial Society, Orchid Society, Daylily Society and Bromeliad Society. She was active in the Edgewood, Terry Road and Raymond Garden Clubs and was on the Board of Directors and a volunteer at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. Mrs. Ellis worked nine years as a medical technologist, later working in the family business of Ben Franklin Stores and Hallmark Stores. She was a faithful member of Springridge United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by infant Halla Francis Ellis. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Mr. Norman Ellis of Terry, MS; daughter, Mrs. Erin Ellis Davis (Steve) of Abita Springs, LA; sons, Mr. Randy Ellis (Cindy) of Raymond, MS; Dr. George Ellis (Karen) of Terry, MS; Mr. Sean Wesley Ellis of Brandon, MS and Dr. Terry Ellis (Deanna) of Evans, GA; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
