Harold Ellis Tisdale,83 , passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at his home in Jackson.\ Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday, July 22, 2009 and 9am until the 10am funeral service Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow in Fuston Cemetery in Walnut Grove, MS.\ \ Mr. Tisdale was born December 21, 1925 in Hickory, MS and joined the U.S. Navy where he was in the Amphibious Division on an LST ship serving his country with honor in WWII. Harold worked for Lloyd Ford for 11 years, then Dumas Milner Chevrolet and Herrin-Gear Chevrolet for 29 years. He was a 32 degree Mason, member of Pearl Lodge #23 and member of F&AM over 50 years. Also a member of the Scottish Rite Freemasonry and long time member of Henry H. Graves American Legion Post One.\ Mr. Tisdale was a faithful, long-time member of Alta Woods United Methodist Church and part of the Builders Sunday School Class.\ \ Preceding him in death are his parents, Katie Lee and Sam Tisdale and sister, Dorothy Snowden of Gulfport.\ \ Survivors include his devoted wife of 61 years, Claudia Whatley Tisdale of Jackson; daughters, Teresa Tisdale Gardner and Carol Faye Tisdale; sister, Delorese Tisdale Clark (Walter) of Enterprise, AL; grandchildren, Harold Dewayne Colson (Jennifer) of Brandon, Amy Dickerson (Bobby Joe) of Byram and Ken Colson of Brandon; great grandchildren, Aaron, Crystal, Taylor, Steven, Drew, Britney and Brianna; numerous nieces and nephews.\ \ Special thanks to the staff of the Dialysis Unit at the VA Hospital and to the staff of Odyssey Hospice Unit.\ \ Donation may be made to Alta Woods United Methodist Church.
