Harvey Eckles

Mr. Harvey Eckles, 88, died Thursday December 4, 2008 at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.\ Visitation will be 2-5pm Sunday and Monday from 11am until the 2pm funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Burial will follow at Lakewood South.\ A lifelong resident of Hinds County, Mr. Eckles had worked with Hinds County as a diesel and heavy equipment mechanic and loved the outdoors. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of WWII and a member of First Baptist Church of Terry.\ Mr. Eckles is preceded in death by his parents, William and Clyda Eckles and a brother, Van Eckles.\ He is survived by his wife Sally Eckles of Terry; son, Donald Thomas (Edi) of Gulfport; brother, Elmer Eckles of Durant; grandchildren Robert Thomas (Tish), Perrin Thomas (Susie), Greg Thomas (Kathy) and Kay Stone (Rick); 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.\ Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Terry Building Fund.\
