\ Howard Granberry died on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Terry, Mississippi on April 21, 1930. He attended Raymond High School, Terry High School, and Hinds Junior College. He joined the Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict. He later served 20 years in the Mississippi National Guard. He worked for Mississippi Power and Light (now Entergy) for 38 years. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement and spent most of his time following his grandchildren, rabbit hunting, and playing golf.\ \ He was reared in Bethesda Baptist Church and was later a member of First Baptist Church of Terry. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Raymond at the time of his death. He had been active in the Brotherhood and had been on a number of mission trips.\ \ He was greeted in heaven by his parents Argus and Louise Granberry; sister, Mary Lou Tucker; and son Charles Granberry.\ \ He is survived by his wife Ruth Granberry; sons Kenny (Jackie) of Raymond, Vince (Michelle) of Terry, and Russ (Amy) of Canton. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael (Amanda) of Flowood, Christy Barrick (Dustin) of Terry, Gunnar and Mattie of Terry, and Charlie, Abby, Bethany, and Caroline of Canton, and great grandchild Tenley of Flowood. He is also survived by one nephew and a number of cousins.\ \ Visitation will be held Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 5-7pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Visitation will also be held Friday at First Baptist Church in Raymond from 11:00am-1:00pm before the service at 1pm .Burial will be in Bethesda Baptist Church cemetery.\ \ While never an official coach, he always coached with his sons, following their team where ever they played. Many ball players have been the benefactor of his praise and encouragement. He definitely earned the title "Coach Granberry".\ \ Because of his love and devotion of young people, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Howard Granberry Scholarship Fund at Hinds Community College through the Hinds Community College Foundation, P.O. Box 1100, Raymond, MS 39154.\
