During Howard “Buck” McGowan’s final visit home to Jackson, Ms, He passed away peacefully to his eternal home in Heaven during the early hours of Saturday, April 6, 2013. Buck is preceded in death by his father, Howard G. McGowan and his mother, Mary Josephine Newsome McGowan of Jackson, Ms. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on March 5, 1956. He learned his life-long trade at a very early age by helping paint and hang wallpaper with his father and uncle, but his greatest passions centered around motorcycles and tattoos. In 1977, after hitch-hiking across America for a few years, Buck moved to Marietta, Ohio. It did not take long before he was known as the greatest wallpaper man anywhere around, taking on the most challenging jobs with the most delicate materials. His southern accent charmed Cheryl Washburn on January 8, 1982 and they were married on October 3, 1989. He was a leader in the Tramps Motorcycle Club for more than twenty years, where he was instrumental in or¬ganizing bicycles and toys for older kids in the annual toy run. He was the proudest of his family and loved his daughter, four sons and grandchildren with great pride. He was happiest when he was entertaining people by telling crazy stories (some true, some not-so-true) and engaging in even crazier pranks. A legend in the hearts and minds of all who knew him, his memory will live on forever. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Washburn McGowan; Sons, Howard G. “Trey” McGowan III, Tobie Pederson, Eric Washburn, Donnie (Carrie) Washburn; Daughter, Christie (Steve) Hebler; Brother, Wayne McGowan; Sisters, Judy (Allen) Loftin, Sheryl (Wayne) Neathery, Carla ( Larry) Olmstead, Margaret Six, Teresa McGowan, Melissa (Mike) Walker and Candace ( Allen) Archambault. He was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. His visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2013 5:00-8:00 PM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Ms and Tuesday April 9, 10:00 AM until the 11:00 service at Jackson First Assembly of God Church.
