Mr. Howard "Dude" Prestwood

Dude Prestwood, 74, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at his home in Byram. Visitation will be 4-7pm Tuesday, December 10 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 11am Wednesday, December 11 at Lakeshore Methodist Church in Byram with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Dude was born in Mendenhall, MS to the late Howard and Ella Lee Prestwood. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as Captain from the Jackson Fire Department after 25 years of service and also retired as Special Agent from the State Tax Commission after 25 years of service. He trained Tennessee Walking horses for 35 years, was owner of VIP Homes and Prestwood Homes and was a faithful member of Lakeshore Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Winstead. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Jean Goza Prestwood; daughters Christi Jean Self (Ken) of Jackson and Leslie Jean Dukes (Donny) of Flowood; brothers Glynn Prestwood (Linda) and Pat Prestwood (Gyndola) all of Flowood; grandchildren Conner & Grace Self and Logan and Garrett Dukes; great grandchild Ally Self.
