Howard Williams lost his battle with lung cancer on Sunday, August 18th at his home in Terry. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Terry with interment in Terry Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm today at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and from 1:00 PM until service time Tuesday at the church. Mr. Williams was born to Ethel Turner Williams and Dave Williams of Canton, MS. He attended Canton Public Schools and joined the National Guard in 1960. He was employed by Union National Insurance Company until his retirement in 2005. He also worked for Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company and W.W. Grainger Company where he sold industrial supplies. Fishing, motorcycle riding, and racing were his hobbies. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the American Legion Riders group. As a young boy, Mr. Williams accepted Christ as his savior and was member of First Baptist Church Terry where he served faithfully as an usher. Mr. Williams was truly blessed and a strong family man. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his loving parents: Ethel and Dave Williams; three sisters: Sadie M. Williams, Norine Gooslby, and Shelby Graves; and one brother: Fletcher Seay. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years: Irene Williams; a son: Steve (Jan) Williams; and a daughter: Brenda (Tommy) Thames. He is also survived by two sisters: Mary Spears and Kathryn Watson; three brothers: J.D., Richard, and Bobby Williams; five granddaughters and eight great grandchildren.
