Hubert Lamar Puckett, 96, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 2-4pm Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. A Funeral Service will begin at 11am on Monday, August 31, 2015 with a visitation beginning one hour prior to service time. A graveside service will follow at 2:30pm at Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Porterville, MS. Mr. Puckett was a member of North McRaven Road Church of Christ. A Veteran of the United States Marines, Mr. Puckett was the last survivor from Mississippi of the attack on Pearl Harbor where he was stationed December 7, 1941. He retired in 1975 from the United States Post Office after many years of service as a foot carrier. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Annie B. Puckett, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Norine Puckett; brother, Lawrence (Jean) Puckett of Terry; sisters, Annie Ruth (Lamar) Harbour and Joanna Boren all of Dekalb and Lois (Edwin) Cherry of Forrest; 2 step-daughters and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
