Mrs. Irene Hollingsworth

Mrs. Mary Irene Hollingsworth, 94, went to be with the Lord Friday, July 1, 2016 at her home in Byram. Visitation will be 5-7:30pm Tuesday, July 5, 2016 and 10 until the 11:00am Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Burial will follow at Lakewood South. Born in Attala County to Carl H. and Mary Jenkins Abels on January 14, 1922, she moved to Jackson in 1942 where she met and married Neal Hollingsworth. She spent most of her adult life in Byram where she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Byram and worked for Hinds County Tax Collectors office. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, Neal Hollingsworth, brothers, Cephus, Carlton, Allen and John Abels and her son, Danny Hollingsworth. She is survived by her son Carl (Peggy) Hollingsworth, of Byram; daughter, Becky H.R. Sykes, of Byram; sisters, Lois Lee of Sevierville, TN, Peggy (Alton) Taylor of Kosciusko and Barbara Page of Fannin; 3 grandchildren, Kelly, Holly and Daniel and 2 great grandchildren Carly and Landry and one on the way, Molly The family would like to send a special thanks to caregivers, Doris, Melba, Myeshia, Nora, Pat and Ruby for their loving care. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Byram Building Fund or the March of Dimes.
