Irvin Walker Tate, 80, passed away at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland on March 22nd. Visitation will be Sunday, March 24th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Memorial Services will be held Monday, March 25th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Chancellor Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lakewood South Cemetery. Irvin was a proud member of the U.S. Navy. He was a past Boy Scout leader and youth baseball coach. He was employed with BellSouth for 38 years and a member of the Pioneers of America. He was a member of Asbury Congregational Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents: Walker and Eulys Tate. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; sons Jeff (Brenda), and Dale (Lisa); daughter Jennifer (Chris) Grider; grandchildren: Jordan and Brent Garner, Justin Grider, Spencer Tate, Walker Tate and Sarah Grider; two great-grandchildren: Cooper Garner and Kennedy Grider; brother Jehu (Monya) Tate of McComb; and his beloved Yorkie, Ellis.
