Mr. J. W. Walker

J.W. Walker, 84, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be Saturday, May 30th from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. A Graveside Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Walker was born January 8, 1936 in Terry, MS to the late John Walker and Maude Robinson. He worked as a manager at BFI for many years. He was married 63 years to the love of his life, Bettye. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending the summers in Mt. View, Arkansas. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Mr. Walker enjoyed life. He loved riding motorcycles and going camping in his RV. He was also very fond of his cat, “Star”. Along with his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his son, Mike Walker, and his sister, Ann Lynch. He is survived by his wife, Bettye Walker of Florence; daughters, Debbie (Bobby) Dear of Florence and Nikki (Alan) Applewhite of Edwards; grandchildren, Matt (Meagan) Dear, Brandi (Beau) Purvis, Bryan (Elizabeth) Walker, Kenneth Walker, Amber Lynchard, and Brandon Lynchard; great grandchildren, Elise Purvis and Lyndon Dear; brothers, O.C. (Shirley) Walker of Florence, Edward (Judy) Walker of Florence, and Allen Ray (Lisa) Walker of Crystal Springs; and his sister, Johnnie Walker of Terry.
