Jack D. Oyler, Sr. arrived in Glory at 10:21 pm, June 20, 2014. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 am on Monday, June 23rd at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am in the Garden of Memories. Mr. Oyler was born to the late Jesse and Lillian Oyler on May 23, 1923. He graduated from Wichita University of Kansas with a BA in Geological Sciences and History. Jack worked for Arkansas Fuel Oil at the time of his family’s arrival in Mississippi in 1955. He established an independent wildcat oil drilling business during the mid 60’s and became a well respected “Oil Man” with several producing wells. Jack was a decorated WWII veteran of the China Burma Campaign and flew various support missions for the 4th Combat Cargo Battalion until he was wounded in action. Jack accepted Christ in his senior years and was baptized by his son, Pastor Jack D. Oyler, Jr. Jack is survived by his wife, Kitty G. Oyler. He was a loving father to his daughters, Pamela (Mike) Ross, Debbie (Jim) Hurt; a son, Jack D. (Penny) Oyler, Jr.; stepsons, Ralph (Sandra) Speede, Gary (Ann) Speede. He is also survived by grandchildren, Cindy B. King, David Brown, Aimee Myers, Sunshine Buffington, Serenity Luckett, Missy H. Tharp, Jennifer Sabados; and 18 great grandchildren.
