James Bridges

James Richard Bridges, 77, passed away on April 29, 2023, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family and friends. James, a Harrisville native, was a man of many talents and true jack of all trades. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need (unless it was a pair of overalls). James was the heart and soul of his family and was cherished and loved by many. Some of his many talents and hobbies included farming and logging with his father and brothers, hunting and participating in field trials with his friends, as well as starting Jerry’s Fish House with his late brother, Jerry. You could always find James on a tractor, working in his garden, or entertaining those around him. His all-time favorite day was “Dove Day.”
 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Bridges and his children, Denise Berry, Chad Bridges (April), and Ruth Staten (Robe). James is also survived by his grandchildren, Morgan Chalk (Justin), Price Berry (Kylie), Lawson, Landon, Mary Katheryn, Caden, Trey, Tyde, and Kemp; and his great-grandson, Turner.
 

Pallbearers: Daryl Bridges, Charles Bridges, Jay Bridges, Michael Bridges, Gregory Carmen, Jerrad Bridges, Jayce Knight, and Dustin Abernathy.

Visitation will be held at Harrisville Baptist Church on May 1st, 2023 from 5pm-8pm.
An additional visitation will be held at Harrisville Baptist Church on May 2nd, 2023 at 11am.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of James Richard Bridges will be held at Harrisville Baptist Church on May 2nd, 2023 at 12pm, with a graveside burial to follow.
