James Flanigan Doddridge, Jr., 71, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at UMMC in Jackson, MS. James was adopted at birth by James Doddridge Sr. and Ora McKinney Doddridge on August 26, 1949 in Jackson, MS, where he lived all of his life. He served in the US Army during Vietnam and was a member of American Legion. A self-employed truck driver, he owned and operated James Doddridge Trucking. In his spare time, he enjoyed blacksmithing and attending meetings with the MS Forge Council. He was also an avid reader, especially Kurt Vonnegut novels. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Frank Barton and sister, Elizabeth Honea. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Evans Magers; step-son, Steven (Angela) Meadows of Daphne, AL; step-daughter, Christine (Jim) Harvey of Bolton, MS; four grandsons, Alec Ponder, Ty Harvey, Daniel Meadows, and David Meadows; sister, Terry Hinton of Warner Robbins, GA; and brother, Marty Myers.
